Parenting can be hard, but there are people who can lend a hand. With home visiting, those people come to you. Home visitors make it easy by meeting you where you live, and it’s free!
A specially trained home visitor will come to you to provide support and information on being a great parent and great first teacher for your child. Home visits are for parents who are expecting a child or with children 5 and under. To get started you just need to answer a few questions online, in person, or over the phone. Then someone will work with you to see if the program is right for you and set up the first visit.
Everyone faces challenges. Sometimes all you need is a little help. You may need a hand getting ready for a new baby in your life. You may want to learn how to teach your child numbers and shapes or get ready for going to school for the very first time. Or you may just want to talk to someone about being a great parent. The best thing about home visits is knowing you are not alone.
Home visiting works for people just like you. We are constantly hearing from parents who are in the home visiting service and each story is more inspiring than the next. We hear how much of a difference parents can see in their children as they grow through the books, shapes and lessons that the parent is trained to give the children. We hear how children who were having a slow start at learning are now excelling in important school readiness skills. We hear from first time moms how much more confident they are with the trained and friendly support from the home visitor. The stories go on and on about how much the home visits have improved the parents confidence in their ability to effectively teach their children and how much stronger the bonds have grown with their children as a result of spending quality time with the children each day.
